In a significant development, the Congress announced on Friday that both Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge have received invitations to the grand inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22. While the decision on their attendance is pending, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that it will be made at an "appropriate time."

The seven-day consecration ceremony, commencing on January 16 and concluding with the consecration of the Ram Lala idol, is poised to draw visitors from across the nation. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and over 6,000 attendees expected, the event is gearing up to be a historic spectacle.

Strict regulations will be in place for entry into Ayodhya on January 22, permitting only those with valid invites from the Ram temple trust or on government duty. The city is undergoing extensive preparations, including the installation of boom barriers and CCTV cameras at all entrances. Boom barriers, also known as tyre killers, will prevent unauthorized vehicles, ensuring security for the high-profile event.

Notably, political leaders from various parties, including Congress, are being invited, with state units already confirming their participation. As Ayodhya takes center stage, the political landscape is abuzz, hinting at the issue's growing significance in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Stay tuned for more updates on this high-profile decision by Congress leaders!
