Ramadan 2027 in Dubai and the UAE is expected to begin on Monday, February 8. Eid Al Fitr is projected for Tuesday, March 9, or Wednesday, March 10. The public holiday could last three or four days, with a possible six-day break for employees who have Saturday and Sunday off.
These are expected dates, not a confirmed 2027 holiday announcement. The UAE will determine the Islamic dates through its official moon-sighting process.
When does Ramadan 2027 start in Dubai?
Current forecasts place the first fasting day on February 8, 2027. On that projection, Ramadan would end on March 8 if it lasts 29 days, or March 9 if it lasts 30 days.
Ramadan is the fasting month. The holiday commonly called the Ramadan holiday is the Eid Al Fitr break at its end. The whole month is not a public holiday.
How many days are the UAE Eid holidays?
The current UAE holiday framework gives government and private-sector employees three public holidays, covering Shawwal 1, 2 and 3. If Ramadan completes 30 days, Ramadan 30 becomes an additional holiday. That makes four official holiday days in the longer-month scenario.
| Scenario | Expected first day of Eid | Expected public holiday dates | Official holiday days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ramadan lasts 29 days | Tuesday, March 9 | March 9 to 11, Tuesday to Thursday | 3 |
| Ramadan lasts 30 days | Wednesday, March 10 | March 9 to 12, Tuesday to Friday, including Ramadan 30 | 4 |
The table assumes Ramadan starts on February 8. A different officially declared start date would change the Gregorian dates.
Could you get six days off?
Yes, under the 30-day scenario, if your normal weekend is Saturday and Sunday. Four public holidays from March 9 to 12 would run directly into the weekend on March 13 and 14, giving six consecutive days away from work. Your next working day would be Monday, March 15.
This is a calendar calculation, not an announcement of six public holidays. Employees with different weekly rest days or shift patterns may have a different break.
If Ramadan lasts 29 days, the projected holiday ends on Thursday, March 11. Friday, March 12 would remain a normal working day for someone on a Monday-to-Friday schedule, unless an employer or authority announces otherwise.
How to plan a longer break
For a Monday-to-Friday employee, the projected calendar offers two ways to create a nine-day break from Saturday, March 6, to Sunday, March 14.
| Scenario | Working days to request off | Potential continuous break |
|---|---|---|
| 30-day Ramadan | Monday, March 8 | March 6 to 14, nine days |
| 29-day Ramadan | Monday, March 8, and Friday, March 12 | March 6 to 14, nine days |
These examples count working days you would need off. They do not determine how your employer calculates annual-leave deductions. Obtain approval and check your company's leave policy before booking.
Will Ramadan working hours change?
Under the current rules for private-sector employees covered by UAE labour law, normal daily working hours reduce by two hours during Ramadan. This applies to Muslim and non-Muslim employees without reducing regular wages.
Reduced hours are separate from Eid public holidays. Government departments issue their own Ramadan schedules. Check your employer's 2027 notice for your actual timings and arrangements.
Are Dubai school holidays the same?
Do not assume a school's full Ramadan or spring break matches employee holidays. Check your child's school calendar and any later circulars for closure dates. The projected Eid dates alone do not establish a longer school vacation.
Are the dates confirmed?
As of October 9, 2026, the dates above remain projections. Check the official moon-sighting decision and the government and private-sector holiday notices closer to Ramadan and Eid. When arranging travel now, choose booking terms that allow a date change.
