Legend Rent a Car stands among the pioneers at DAST 2024

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of The Executive Council, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, honored the winners of the 13th Dubai Award for Sustainable Transport (DAST) 2024, organized by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). The award aims to encourage sustainable transport solutions, environmental preservation, and transport safety.


The ceremony, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, commenced with a film on DAST, showcasing Dubai's growth and its impact on transport. Richard De Cani, a global leader in city planning and design, delivered the keynote speech, emphasizing the importance of sustainable transport aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed, accompanied by His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, honored winners in various categories. Mowasalat Karwa of Qatar won the ‘Outstanding Sustainable Transport’ Award. The Integrated Transport Centre in Abu Dhabi received awards for ‘Mobility Management’ and ‘Transport Safety’. A premier car rental company in the UAE Legend World Rent a Car was recognized with the ‘Environmental Protection’ Award for its electric vehicle initiatives. Dubai Municipality won the ‘Initiatives for People of Determination’ Award.


His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer highlighted the award's role in promoting sustainable mobility and environmental protection. The award has grown, with 170 submissions this year, expanding its reach to more organizations and promoting sustainable transport in the UAE.

DAST aims to raise awareness and encourage community support for safe, accessible transport systems. The award emphasizes sustainability, safety, and environmental concerns, stimulating creativity and leadership in mobility. It provides technical support and expertise through the DAST Resource Centre, inviting submissions from local and regional entities in various categories.

Evaluation criteria include strategy, sustainability initiatives, innovation, and community awareness. An independent jury of experts reviews submissions, ensuring impartiality and adherence to specific principles and criteria.
