The romantic drama Saiyaara movie released in 2025 has taken audiences by surprise, not only for its emotional music and storyline but also for introducing a new face — Aneet Padda. While Ahaan Panday’s debut was much anticipated due to his Bollywood family ties, Aneet’s journey was completely different.
Here’s how a small-town girl from Amritsar carved her own path to Bollywood’s big screen.
Started as a Model in College
Born in October 2002 in Amritsar, Aneet Padda grew up in a middle-class working family. She began working in advertisements and modeling during her teenage years while pursuing her Bachelor’s degree at Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi.
Her fresh look and confident presence helped her land commercials, including a popular Nescafe ad, which first brought her into the limelight.
Small Roles that Built Confidence
In 2022, she made a brief appearance as an extra in the Kajol-starrer Salaam Venky. Though her role was not prominent, it gave her the first taste of being on a film set.
Her big break came in 2024 when she played Roohi Ahuja in the Amazon Prime Video web series Big Girls Don’t Cry, where she shared screen space with senior actors like Pooja Bhatt and Raima Sen. This show gave her both visibility and recognition for her acting ability.
Musical Passion with Acting Talent
Apart from acting, Aneet is also a passionate singer. She recorded and released her first song, Masoom, in 2024. That same year, she appeared in a television series Yuva: Sapno Ka Safar, where she was credited as Aneet Kaur.
Her multi-talented profile helped shape her image as more than just a model—she was a full-fledged artist.
Auditioning for Saiyaara: The Turning Point
When director Mohit Suri started working on Saiyaara, he was specifically looking for fresh, non-industry faces who could bring honesty and depth to the screen.
Aneet was one of hundreds of girls who auditioned. Her performance stood out immediately. Not only did she deliver an emotionally powerful audition, but her natural chemistry with co-actor Ahaan Panday was undeniable.
This performance impressed both Mohit Suri and the Yash Raj Films team, who fast-tracked her selection for the lead role.
Breaking Through as an Outsider
Aneet’s story is rare in Bollywood. She didn’t have a film family or industry connections. She got the lead role in Saiyaara movie through sheer talent, hard work, and a standout audition.
From working as an extra to becoming the female lead in a major YRF production, Aneet’s journey proves that the industry is slowly opening doors to fresh faces with real potential.
