Several Indians were among the 41 people killed in a massive fire that broke out in a building housing workers in Kuwait's Mangaf city, according to Press Trust of India. The incident occurred around 6 am local time (9 am IST). The Kuwaiti health ministry reported that about 43 people were hospitalized due to the fire, with four of them succumbing to their injuries.

Officials said the fire started in the kitchen of the six-story building early Wednesday. The building housed nearly 160 workers from the same company. Eyewitnesses reported that some people jumped from the fifth floor to escape the blaze and tragically died.

"Deeply shocked by the news of the fire incident in Kuwait City. There are reportedly over 40 deaths and more than 50 hospitalized. Our Ambassador has gone to the site. We are awaiting further information," said Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has issued a helpline number and confirmed that some Indian workers were involved in the fire. The Embassy pledged to provide all possible assistance.

"Deepest condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives. Wishing a swift and full recovery to those injured. Our Embassy will offer the fullest assistance to all concerned," Jaishankar added.

The Indian Ambassador in Kuwait noted that over 30 Indian workers injured in the fire have been admitted to the hospital.
